Rules For VCE Examinations and the General Achievement Test (GAT)
VCE students need to observe the following rules to conduct the VCE written examination and the GAT on behalf of the VCAA. Also, they have established day-to-day rules for the venue. The rules shall apply with appropriate and reasonable changes to the students who have disabilities or any other issues. All the supervisors have authority from administration of VCE written examination and the GAT to check any authorised material that is taken into the examination and GAT centre.
- Students are not allowed to cheat or assist other students to cheat.
- Students are not allowed to induce or assist any other person for the VCE exam in their place.
- Students are not allowed to present for a VCE external assessment in another student’s place.
- Students are not allowed to bring any alcohol or drugs in the VCE external assessment.
- Students has to obey and observe all the instructions or direction given by supervisor
- Students have to proceed with supervisor to any investigation by the VCAA in relation to a suspected breach of rules.
- Students are only allowed to bring the materials and equipment approved for the external assessment
- Students are now allowed to carry mobile phones and any electronic devices
- Students found with any device defined in rule 8 must surrender that device for inspection.
- Students are not allowed to bring any drinks or food, except under special circumstances as approved and directed by VCAA. Bottled water is APPROVED.
- Students are not allowed to communicate with other students during examination
- Students are not allowed to cause any annoyance or interference to any other student during examination
- Students are not allowed to tear or bound any part of answer book, task book except where permitted like formula sheets,
- Students are not allowed to remove any response material, used or unused from the exam.
- Students are not allowed to mark on their paper or any other material in any way or use a calculator.
- Students have to raise their hand if they need to communicate with a supervisor.
- Students are not allowed to leave the place without supervisor’s permission
- Students have to stop writing when instructed to by their supervisor.
- Students must stay silent and seated in their place at the end of the VCE external assessment until the material has been collected and checked by the supervisor, and an announcement will be made to leave the examination room.
If Student Will Arrive Late?
If a student arrives late for the written examination, up to 30 minutes after the scheduled start of VCE examination, he/she will be allowed to the examination room. The student is allowed the full writing time but no reading time will be provided.
